Plexidor Wall Installation adding stud & moving outlet required

PlexiDor MD Wall Installation outlet needed to move with concrete outside board
[00:00] Today we’re doing a wall install through a studded wall, and where the customer wanted this, we’re going to have to move electrical up and out of the way. So I’ll be moving electrical up about ten inches. [00:11] Then we’re going to put in 2x6s so we have a nice opening that’s twelve inches from left to right for this medium wall install. As long as we’ve got good material on the left and the right, all the plaster walls will install fine. They just need something to attach to on the left and the right, especially the interior frame. [00:28] This one is going to be a 2x6 wall, so we’re cutting 2x6s to get in there and using a spacer to get the distance from left to right of twelve inches. After this is done, we drill four corners going to the outside, so we know exactly where we are on the outside to cut our outside hole. [00:48] The outside hole is about two inches taller. Depends on the size, check your measurements, but you’re doing a little bit taller on the bottom. You’re cutting the hole down a little bit so that everything slopes to the outside. [01:01] We drill the four corners, and this is a [unclear] install which requires some more screws to be installed. Make sure you check your instructions. [01:11] There’s a little clip on the top to stabilize the top tunnel piece and help during the installation. Make sure you put those there and twist those [unclear]. Now we’re outside, measuring the four corners that were drilled from the inside so we know exactly where we need to be for the outside hole. [01:25] Also, those holes drilled in the corners keep spider cracks from going out onto your stucco, so it’s good to do corner drilling to avoid spider cracks. [01:33] Surprise — when we got in here, it was not a plywood wall with stucco. It ended up being a poured concrete board, so we had to go to the home improvement store and get ourselves a diamond blade to put on the grinder so we could cut through this poured concrete wall, which had a wire mesh and lath in it. [01:52] But we’re about ready to get our hole. Once we got our hole, we can check that it fits, and it does, so good there. Clean it up a little bit, and now we’re going to set the two frames in place, both the inside and the outside. This allows for everything to be centered. [02:07] The inside is just kept in with one screw or held in a little with tape. Once we get the inside frame in there, we put the outside frame in, put in all those tunnel pieces again. The bottom piece goes all the way up against the frame, slopes down, so no pooling water in the wall. We have the side pieces, the top pieces — all those being put in place. [02:32] Then you know everything’s on center. The inside frame is on center, and the outside frame’s on center. The outside frame is pretty close to touching the studs on both left and right, but the inside frame is literally not touching studs on either side. It’s just being screwed in from the surface. [02:51] The outside frame we’re attaching with just two screws. That’s all you need, because by the time you install the sheet metal, there’ll still be plenty of screws to hold everything in place. We mark it in place with this pencil here. [02:59] That allows the top pieces to fit 2x4s, 2x6s, block wall, whatever you’ve got. They were cutting — this system comes with an aluminum jigsaw blade. Use that. It’ll keep it from tearing up the aluminum and give a nice clean edge. [03:12] You see this one is an eighth-inch shorter, so the tunnel pieces are just inside the frame a little bit. Nice clean finish, nothing sticking out. [03:25] Our experienced handyman here is holding everything in place with the masking tape while he does drilling of his mounting holes. Then he has to come back and put in the stainless steel screws to keep everything in place. [03:39] See how that bottom piece is all the way on the frame on the outside, whereas the frame on the inside [unclear]. The drop on the pan on the bottom goes to the outside. [03:50] A good door from Alaska down to the rainy country of Florida. Now the door’s installed and ready for dog training. [04:00] Come on. Come on.
